The Met Office has issued yellow warnings of heavy rain in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Angus, Perth and Kinross, which are in effect until 11 a.m. Thursday, while a warning for Moray and the Inverness area expires at 8 a.m.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to reports of flooding in Ellon, Aberdeenshire, around 4am from 50pm

The A92 was closed following a flood after three cars got stuck in the water between Arbroath and Montrose at around 4 a.m.10am

Police say firefighters attended the scene and no injuries were reported

The Met Office warning says heavy rains will continue through Thursday morning, causing further accumulations of 06 inches (15mm) for the north-east of Scotland with a few spots possibly seeing a other 12 in 16 inches (30 mm-40 mm)

Elsewhere, it will remain mostly dry but the big cloud could be enough to bring rain and drizzle

No problems have been reported on the tracks, but some CalMac ferries are disrupted due to bad weather on Wednesday
