If I were to fulfill a wish, “removing Pauline Hanson from my head” would have to be considered appropriately. Bringing a piece of steel wool to the specific, millimeter-precise places in my head that their existence occupies would be a great pleasure for me. To shove my head in a Brain Cooker and Eternal Sunshine Hanson out there? Buddy i would love it. It would be an almighty thrill. Unfortunately, that’s just not possible. Instead I will live through this clip from Senator of the Greens, Lidia Thorpe, and « forget » Hanson’s name forever.
It really was a banner day in the Hanson annals in Hansard. Queensland One Nation’s stupidity covered itself with further fame during the debate over the extremely bad government cashless welfare card law, claiming that people on welfare have essentially no real rights.

The usual defense of such a joke is that it has been misinterpreted or taken out of context. But the reality here is that these are the very real words that Hanson spoke with her supposedly human mouth. The video doesn’t lie.

« They [welfare recipients] don’t spend the taxpayer’s hard-earned dollars on alcohol, drugs, and gambling, » says Hanson, inadvertently defining the unwritten double standard that it is perfectly fine for politicians to do just that. The mask always slips off. Or in this case it keeps slipping.

When Thorpe began her response, she made the pretty bulletproof comeback by simply « forgetting » Hanson’s name and forcing the Senate to officially identify her like a peeling from day one.
