Weltnachrichten – AU – Batsmen ended up leaving too much for Pandya: Kohli

. .

Sydney, 8. December: India captain Virat Kohli blamed India’s underperforming middle-overs batting for India losing the third and third T20 International finals at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) here on Tuesday.

Australia won the last 12-run White Ball Series draw when India failed to whitewash in three games in the T20I competition.

Kohli said Indian batsmen left a little too much for Hardik Pandya towards the end.

« We had a chance when Hardik and I hit (they both got the equation to 43 balls out of 18). But the middle-over phase when we bet was the phase that cost us the game. If we had a partnership of 25 or 30, that would have meant Hardik would have arrived when we needed 60, not 80. His work would have been easier, « said Kohli after the game on Tuesday.

Kohli was happy with the way the team played the limited overs series, however, and he was pretty happy with the competitiveness they showed even in the final, non-consecutive T20.

« This game was still competitive. We were still there, we’ve shown throughout the limited-over series that we are still finding ways to get back into the game and scare the opposition and winning the (T20I) series is a nice one little asterisk for us when we finish limited-overs leg on a high, « added Kohli.

India won the T20I series 2-1 but had previously lost the ODI series by the same margin.

Kohli said he enjoyed playing in front of a crowded house at SCG. He added that as players, they feed on the support of the crowd.

« We are just happy. I honestly think the crowd was a factor too (in India it’s good). It’s great that we can play in front of an audience. Gives you motivation. Our fans pulled us through. You love to ride momentum and energy, and that’s why it’s exciting in a leg with limited overruns. We players feed on the crowd, which is an important factor, « he added.
