A bushfire that threatened a number of towns north of Adelaide as it burned through grasslands and crops has been contained.
An emergency fire alert was issued once on Friday when it burned in hot and windy conditions toward Roseworthy, Sandy Creek, Freeling and Lyndoch.
However, the CFS reduced this to a bushfire warning message after control lines were established around the fire.
The fire came as temperatures rose across South Africa. Mercury reached 40 ° C in Adelaide and continued to penetrate some regional centers by the mid-1940s.
The CFS declared the Adelaide Hills to be at extreme risk of bushfires, with six other districts rated as extreme.
Similar hot conditions will continue through Saturday, with Adelaide peaking at 38 ° C before a cooler, southerly change takes hold.
