Weltnachrichten – AU – Erebus Motorsport confirms departure from Reynolds – Speedcafe

David Reynolds will no longer drive for Erebus Motorsport after 2020, the team has confirmed

. .

Reynolds is expected to be replaced by Brodie Kostecki, who competed with the team at this year’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 alongside Anton De Pasquale.

This means that after De Pasquale’s departure to Dick Johnson Racing, who has been replaced by Will Brown, the team will start the 2021 season with an entirely new driver line-up.

It has long been speculated that Reynolds attempted to separate from the team due to internal team issues at the Dandenong South-based organization.

McVean is expected to be announced at Kelly Racing in the New Year and Reynolds is expected to be there, who is expected to replace the recently retired Rick Kelly.

There is speculation that Erebus Motorsports main sponsor Penrite Oil Reynolds will follow to Kelly Racing.

In a statement by the team, Erebus Motorsport said that neither party could continue to work together and had « amicably » decided to part ways.

« I preferred to stay with Erebus but unfortunately it’s time for me to move on, » said Reynolds.

“I really enjoyed my time with the team and it was a very difficult decision to leave the team.

“The team is made up of a fantastic group of people who I’ve built very close relationships with over the past five years, and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together. ”

Team owner Betty Klimenko said she wouldn’t get in the way of Reynolds’ desire to keep going.

« David has been an important part of our team since we moved to Melbourne in 2016, » she said.

“We have shared great successes, including winning the 2017 Bathurst 1000, and we thank David for all of his efforts.

« Unfortunately, David has decided that his future lies elsewhere and we don’t want to prevent him from taking another path.

“David has to do what is best for him and we have to do what is best for the future and long-term stability of our team.

“Unfortunately we couldn’t reach an agreement and had to go our separate ways.

Reynolds joined Erebus Motorsport in 2016 and took his first podium with the team at the end of the Sydney 500 season.

In 2017 he got his first win with the team, namely his triumph with Luke Youlden in the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

This was followed by wins at Melbourne 400, Darwin Triple Crown and Newcastle 500 in 2018 in a year in which he finished fifth, his best ever for the team.

Reynolds was without a win in 2019 and 2020 and fell to 12th place in this year’s drivers’ championship. Place back. This was his worst season end since joining in 2016.
