Up-and-coming goalkeeper Daniel Margush has a chance to push for a permanent place on the Western Sydney squad, but Wanderers coach Carl Robinson is planning another glove maker after Daniel Lopar’s departure.

Margush, 23, moved to the Wanderers off-season after failing to make an impression in a brief stint with Perth Glory.

Before that, Margush played seven A-League games in four years for his hometown club Adelaide United, trailing first behind Eugene Galekovic and later against Paul Izzo.

But he’s finally ready to get an expanded A-League chance between posts after Swiss custodian Lopar parted ways with Wanderers this month.

« Daniel has done a great job since he came here, » said Wester Sydney manager Robinson of Margush, who will start Wednesday night when Wanderers host Macarthur FC at Bankwest Stadium.

« Daniel is like a number of A-League goalkeepers as he wasn’t a regular no. 1 still.

« He is a very talented boy, has a lot of potential, and has the qualities that you will want to say no to. 1 – a good speaker, a good communicator . . . he deserves an opportunity. ”

However, with a place on the Wanderers roster and a place in the salary cap, Robinson said he

« I’ll try to bring in another goalkeeper. What kind of goalkeeper I bring depends on it, ”he said. « Am I bringing an international holder with me because I have a visa seat, or am I bringing a domestic holder with me? We’ll see how this first month goes. ”

Robinson read the tale of the Wanderers’ poachers – including James Troisi (of Adelaide United) and Berni Ibini (of Newcastle Jets) – from other A-League clubs.

« Players come and go for certain reasons, just like managers and coaches come and go, » said the former Newcastle Jets mentor.

« I want to build a core of players who can move the team forward for the next three to five years, regardless of who the manager is, » he said.

« You are more experienced than the youth, which is important when you are a new team or club. It’s important that you have the basics, ”said Robinson.

« It is important that there is a lot of interest in this team and that they do well, but there are other A-League teams that may need a response, including us. « . ”
