. .

There aren’t many years we wanted to erase from my mind – but 2020 is one that comes close.

Like most of you, we are prepared to spend more time at home and away from loved ones in other parts of the country and around the world.

It was a year of worry, a year of loneliness, a year of profound economic and health changes. COVID-19 mixed up the world order.

It meant that our beloved newspaper, Your Chronicle, was no longer printed with many regional news headlines.

I want to thank you for staying with us. The online readership and subscriptions increased as those of us who worked hard to bring you the best local news on our digital platforms.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing, but in this brave new world our team had 40+ local state election articles that included rolling coverage of the Fraser Island bushfire disaster (much of it long before the rest of the nation’s media coverage published unmatched coverage of our courts and councils, as well as the projects that will shape our region, including the proposed wind farm which has been the subject of more than 20 articles in recent months.

With many readers enjoying well-deserved breaks, we also want to ensure that you get the most out of it by subscribing to the Fraser Coast Chronicle.

Along with local news, you have a free online subscription to our state newspaper The Courier-Mail. If you haven’t activated your free subscription, click here and follow the instructions. More details below.

Subscribers sign up for local news, but many don’t realize that there is so much more available – and at no additional cost.

When you activate your free Courier Mail subscription, you will always have access to Melbourne’s Herald Sun, NT News, The Mercury in Hobart and the Adelaide Advertiser.

You can also access all of our regional titles including Gold Coast Bulletin, Cairns Post, Geelong Advertiser, Townsville Bulletin, as well as neighboring local titles in cities from Mackay to Warwick.
