Good wishes have come in for home and away star Johnny Ruffo, who announced on Tuesday that his brain tumor has returned.
The singer, actor, and TV presenter took to Instagram to share the devastating news and said he was determined to “beat this damn disease. ”
Ruffo, 32, was first diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2017 when it was revealed that he had undergone surgery to remove a tumor following a migraine.
In May last year, he stated that he was currently « cancer free », but unfortunately the break shouldn’t be long.
« After an unexpected week of seizures and excruciating headaches, it is with a heavy heart that I have to let you know that I now have another big fight ahead of me as my brain tumor has returned, even though I will dig deep and hit this one damn again Illness, ”he wrote in his Instagram post on Tuesday.
« Yes, you will. All my love for you, Johnny, ”Georgie Parker replied quickly.
« See you tomorrow, my strong, cheeky, politically incorrect warrior friend, » added another home and away star, Lynne McGranger.
« It’s like a superhuman strength, and it can hit anyone s *** that gets in its way . . . Good luck man stay strong. ”
« We’re here for you, brother, sending all the love and good vibes, » wrote pop duo Jess & Matt.
Perth-born Ruffo became famous after finishing third in the 2011 version of X Factor Australia (Reece Maston won). .
He signed with Sony and posted a number of singles charts before appearing as Chris Harrington in Home and Away from 2013-2016.
He has also appeared on Dancing with the Stars and has appeared with One Direction, Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block, among others.
Then, in 2017, the cancer diagnosis came. Last year he released a song called « Broken Glass » which reflected his health battles.
« This song is probably the most vulnerable song I’ve written, » he told The Morning Show at the time.
« It’s loosely based on my experiences over the past two or three years – and being down and out – not necessarily (just) about cancer, but about anything like depression or the loss of a loved one.
« I really want people to connect with this and interpret it in their own way because everyone is going through fights. ”
Ruffo recorded his first battle with brain cancer on social media and showed his fans and followers the progress he had made with updates to his scans and results.
« Some things in life really put things into perspective and hope for a positive outcome. Keep me in your mind, « he wrote on Instagram after his first operation.
Ruffo has been singing the praises of his partner Tahnee Sims all along, who was there every step of the way.
On her birthday in 2019, Ruffo took to Instagram to describe his girlfriend as « the most amazingly kind, loving, caring and most beautiful person in the world ». ”
« Every day with you is just a little better than the previous one and I am so blessed to be able to call you mine, all the love in the world, I love you more and more every day. ”
