More people can visit relatives in geriatric care facilities in NSW, whereby the two-visitor rule from Tuesday, April 15. December 2020, will be deleted.

The relaxed restrictions on elderly care will go into effect in a COVID-safe manner as community transmission in NSW remains low.

The new changes will allow more family members and friends to visit family members who are caring for the elderly during the holiday season.

Performers, choirs and musicians can now perform in retirement homes again under the new changes. In this way, all the festive traditions of Christmas carols and Christmas concerts can take place in a COVID-safe manner.

Stefanie Williams, NSW health director for elderly care, said social connections are important for elderly care residents.

« We’re excited to give residents the opportunity to spend time with more of their loved ones during this festive season and give families that peace of mind as they finalize their plans, » said Ms. Williams.
