Six more schools on the Toronto District School Board will close their doors starting Monday to allow Toronto Public Health to investigate COVID-19 cases in schools.
The TDSB announced on Sunday afternoon that until January. 4, City Adult Learning Center, Humewood Community School, RH McGregor Elementary School, David Lewis Public School, and Grenoble Public School are closed to students and staff.
Later on Sunday evening, the TDSB announced that Oakridge Junior Public School in Scarborough would also be closing.
TPH has also recommended that Thorncliffe Park Public School and Fraser Mustard Early Learning Academy continue to lay off until the end of the winter break.
Last week it was announced that the Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute will also be closed until January.
TDSB spokesman Ryan Bird confirmed that nine schools are expected to be closed by January. 4th.
« At each of these schools, students will move on to distance learning, » Bird said. « Since the beginning of the year we have been asking our schools and classes to make sure they are ready to switch to distance learning (in case) of something like this. ”
A school on the Toronto Catholic District School Board, St. . Conrad’s Catholic school is also expected to be closed for the week on Mondays.
On Sunday evening, Norm Di Pasquale, trustee of the TCDSB Ward 9 Board, confirmed in a tweet that two other schools – All Saints Catholic School and St. . Aidan Catholic School – will also be closed.
In its latest data released Friday morning, Ontario reported 151 more school-related cases in the province – 125 more students were diagnosed for a total of 4. 212 infected; 26 additional employees for a total of 915 and zero people for a total of 1. 090 were not identified.
According to the TDSB website from December. In 13 there were a total of 444 confirmed COVID-19 cases from students, 88 cases from staff, and 663 resolved cases.
