World news – 2021 HBCU-themed NBA All-Star Game


The NBA 2021 All-Star Game will feature a court designed to honor historically black colleges and universities:

#NBAAllStar 2021 Game Court 🌟

The court represents both academic significance and the incredible pride of & School spirit of the HBCUs & your students. It was created with HBCU alumni and contains icons that represent the best of HBCU academics, music and life on campus.

The league allocated $ 3 million to support HBCU programs during the All-Star celebrations, with the two teams for Thurgood Marshall, according to Rachel Nichols of ESPN College Fund and United Negro College Fund will play.

The Grambling and Florida A&M marching bands will attend introductions, while HBCU alumni and students will be among the fans watching the game.

Yahoo’s Chris Haynes Sports reported that the game’s three officials, Tom Washington, Courtney Kirkland and Tony Brown, are all HBCU graduates.

Former Tennessee star Robert Covington is the only HBCU graduate in the NBA and will take part in the Skill Challenge on Sunday.
