World news – 22 floods save themselves as volunteers prepare for more rain


NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) volunteers have been called to 22 flood rescues overnight as the wet weather will last through the weekend.

The Bureau of Meteorology has warned that more storms are forecast in most parts of eastern NSW this afternoon and over the next few days.

From 4 a.m. Thursday morning about three feet of rain fell on Tamworth, Corindi and Coffs Harbor within 30 minutes.

The busy units included the Tamworth Unit with 70 calls and the Coffs Harbor Unit with 25 calls in the last 24 hours.

Most requests for assistance have been about leaking roofs, flooding, and trees and branches falling in strong winds.
