Nursing organizations will work with the University of Birmingham to develop a center for adult social care with the aim of promoting and sustaining people’s independence and wellbeing.
The center will be people with Years of social welfare experience, people providing unpaid support, people in the industry, people with evidence implementation experience, bringing together vendors, commissioners and policy experts and academic teams from across the UK.
The center, known as IMPACT (Improving Adult Care Together), was funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), part of UK Research and Innovation, and the Health Foundation.
The aim is to help those working in the sector , to help caregivers and the people they support to obtain high-quality, practice-oriented evidence to use them to support innovations. Building capacity and skills in the workforce; Assisting in developing sustainable and productive relationships among individuals involved in adult care; and to improve understanding of what helps or hinders the implementation of evidence.
Partners include Care England, Skills for Care, the Social Care Institute for Excellence, the Care Workers’ Charity, Scottish Care, Carers UK, The UK Association of Social Workers, Think Local Act Personal, the Association for Directors of Adult Social Services and the Universities of Sheffield, Stirling, Ulster and Cardiff.
The center will receive £ 15 million over the next six years , with ESRC and The Health Foundation making equal contributions.

Jon Glasby, Professor of Health and Welfare at the University of Birmingham, has been appointed and will be a Director of IMPACT Partners from across the UK are working together to lead the joint development, establishment and delivery of the center.
