From the moment Aussies first smacked the sight of the Hawaiian Duke Kahanamoku carving the waters of Freshwater Beach in 1915, surfing has been a national obsession, and perhaps nowhere more so than in the port city. Sydney has tons of beaches to paddle your board and ride a wave. But because you can never have too much of a good thing, construction is soon to begin on a huge new 45 acre resort with a huge man-made surf pool near the Hawkesbury River in northern Sydney.
The massive leisure development Wisemans Surf Lodge was launched on Nov.. Approved by Hills Shire Council on November 11th, paving the way for groundbreaking for next year. The luxury facility will have a wave pool the size of four football fields, which reliably generates the body’s own waves and reaches a climax of 2. 5 meters, every 10 to 12 seconds.
The resort also has a 9-hole golf course and beautifully manicured grounds surrounded by rougher bushland for guests to explore. A hotel that is currently on the site is undergoing top-down renovations to become a five-star travel destination. It was designed by star architect Kelvin Ho, whose work you will have admired if you have ever visited the Newport or Palmer & Co..
This inland surfing oasis is not open to everyone, however. Access to the Surf Lodge is only possible through membership. Given the luxurious finesse of the plans, we assume the privilege could cost a pretty penny. Fortunately, you have until 2022 to save. Or just keep surfing for free on Sydney’s many beaches. Juss says’. . .
