World news – AU – AFL live updates round 18: Richmond Tigers looking to secure top-four spot, but bottom-placed Adelaide Crows not making things easy

The twilight game sees Richmond take on the Crows at Adelaide Oval. The Tigers need to win to secure a top-four spot.

Despite trailing by four points, Adelaide have started well and don’t look like a bottom-of-the-ladder side. They are leading the marks 25-20, contested possessions 32-31, free kicks 3-2, hitouts 7-5 and scoring shots 4-3.

However, the Tigers have the comfortable edge in inside 50s 16-7 and clearances 8-4 while they’re also on top in disposals 80-74 and tackles 11-9.

A trademark long chain of Richmond handballs ends up with Aarts who runs into goal and dobs it from 30m out. Tigers back in front! Good game this one so far.

From 40m out on a slight angle, the former captain makes no mistake and he becomes Adelaide’s all-time leading goalkicker with 441, overtaking the great Tony Modra (440).

From 45m out directly in front, Riewoldt splits the big sticks and puts the Tigers in front for the first time.

Lambert spots up Caddy with precision and the former Cat’s set shot from 50m out on a 45-degree angle is sensational! What a kick.

McAdam pounces on the crumbs from the pack and his soccer attempt from a few metres out on a tricky angle under pressure from Grimes is a ripper! Great start for the Crows!
