World news – AU – Australian Open tickets on sale today – just in time for Christmas

Tickets for the Australian Open 2021 will go on sale at 12:00 PM AEDT today as preparations for the historic start of the 8th. February at the first Grand Slam of the year.

« Although our event will look a little different if we prioritize everyone’s safety, it will be a fantastic opportunity to come together and experience many of the best things about Melbourne – world-class live sports in an exciting festival atmosphere.

“We look forward to welcoming the world’s best players to Melbourne Park. I know they can’t wait to compete in front of an audience again and be prepared for the rigorous quarantine process when they arrive. All of this is a key element for everyone’s safety.

« The number of tickets is lower this year, so you’ll need to get on early to secure your seat. « . We’re starting ticket sales at 25 percent capacity in our three main stadiums and hope to be able to work closely with the Victorian government to increase our numbers as we get closer to the event.

In 2021, the AO has a new game plan to ensure the safety of everyone on site. The district is divided into three zones, each including one of the three main arenas.

Each zone offers its own unique combination of world-class tennis action, live experiences and the culinary offerings Melbourne is known for. The three zones are as follows:

Rod Laver Arena – See the world’s best players in action and enjoy world-class dining, shopping and the fun of Grand Slam Oval

Margaret Court Arena – see today’s stars on MCA and future champions in the western plazas, with access to Victoria’s best products in Garden Square

John Cain Arena – this is where the spirit of the « Happy Slam » comes to life, with enthusiastic fans and dynamic tennis action. The practice village has more star-spotting opportunities when you experience the best warm-up in the world for their games, and a piece of Grand Slam Oval is thrown in.

Ticket prices have been frozen or lowered in many categories for 2021, reflecting the change in access to different areas on site.

Tickets to the John Cain Arena start at just $ 49, as does a Ground Pass in 2020; Starting prices for the Rod Laver Arena are the same as for 2020, from $ 62 for a day session and $ 65 for the night. Starting prices for MCA have dropped from 2020, starting at just $ 56 for day sessions and $ 60 for night hours.

As part of the AO’s COVIDSafe plan, tickets are sold in family pods of 1 to 6 tickets to facilitate physical distancing. All tickets will be digital in 2021 to minimize contact points and support contact tracking. The start times of the stadium are staggered. The RLA and MCA sessions start at 11:00 AM and the JCA at 12:00 PM.
