No.. 7 Florida has some of the best attacking talent in college football. But there is neither Najee Harris nor DeVonta Smith.

These two play for No.. 1 Alabama, and they made all the difference in the SEC title game on Saturday night.

In a 52:46 win for the Crimson Tide, Harris and Smith were the best players on the field. Harris, the returning star of the tide, was an absolute beast. He rushed for 178 yards, caught five passes for 67 yards, and scored a whopping five touchdowns. Four of these results were achieved in the first half, three of them as a pass catcher outside the field.

But his best work came in the second half. Every time Florida took the lead, Alabama tossed yards out in giant chunks with Harris scoring his fifth touchdown on a run from a yard to bring the tide to 42-31 at 11:29.

Smith was just as good. The Heisman contender put on a show, scoring 15 passes for 184 yards and two points.

Smith’s last catch of the evening was the last nail in the coffin for the Gators. UF shortened Alabama’s lead to 45-38 by 6:33. Three Harris runs over 46 yards brought the tide swiftly into the Florida area. Smith finished it off by running a beautiful route and catching a perfect throw from Mac Jones for the crucial 15-yard touchdown.

Jones, himself a Heisman contender, ended the night with 418 yards and five touchdown throws. Saturday night’s performance marked Jones’ fourth 400-yard performance of the season.

Overall, the Alabama crime has traveled a whopping 605 meters. And it looked easy too.

With the win, Alabama won its seventh SEC championship in the Nick Saban era. The Tide had a rare two-loss season in 2019 and has returned with a vengeance. Now 11-0, the Crimson Tide are a suspension to make the College Football Playoffs the No.. To enter. 1 seed.

Next up is a national championship. It’s been a couple of seasons since Alabama won one of them, and this group was determined to climb back to the top of college football from the day that bad season began.

Thanks to a Harris touchdown catch, Alabama took the lead by just six seconds at halftime at 35:17.

Florida was sacked in the second half. Kyle Trask opened the third quarter with a 50 yard landing with Trevon Grimes.

The UF defense then forced a turnover with downs and a punt and opened the door to the offensive to cut the deficit even further. The Gators did just that when Nay’Quan Wright briefly hit the end zone just before the end of the third quarter.

Alabama felt like it was in complete control, but the tide lead was only 35-31 for the fourth quarter.

But that was as close as Florida. Todd Grantham’s defense just couldn’t get the stop it needed, nor did the Gators regain an onside kick in the final minutes.

Even so, it was an enormously brave effort from Florida – an effort that made last week’s loss for LSU even worse.

If the Gators hadn’t blown this game and entered the competition with just one loss on Saturday night, UF would have a legitimate argument in favor of No.. 4th place in the College Football Playoff Ranking. This is especially true when you consider how Notre Dame played against Clemson the previous Saturday.

Team Kuchar combined 10 birdies over the first 11 holes en route to shooting 14 under 58 and led with two strokes.
