A young boy died tragically drowning on an estate on Christmas Eve.
The school-age child died Thursday afternoon after an incident on property in Vernor, near Fernvale, 60 kilometers west of Brisbane.

Just 24 hours earlier, Queensland Health had issued a reminder to remain vigilant amid fears of rising drownings.
Queensland Children’s Hospital has suffered seven fatal drownings in 2019 to date – three more than in 2018 and five more than in 2017.
More than a third of child drowning incidents occur in Queensland between December and February.
