Adelaide [Australia], 26. November (ANI): Former Australian cricketer Cameron White will continue his coaching career as an assistant striker for the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL), the club announced on Thursday. White, a playing member of the Strikers’ ninth season of BBL, announced his retirement from professional cricket in August to focus his attention on coaching. « I enjoyed my time with the Strikers last season and after calling to end my career as a player, I am really looking forward to this next chapter in cricket, » White said in an official statement. « I took part in some coaching sessions during BBL | 09, and it was a hype back then. When my career came to an end, I knew I was going to keep pursuing it, « he added. White was a mainstay of the Australian ODI team between 2007 and 2011. He hit two tons and took over as captain for Michael Clarke once in 2011. He was also named Victoria’s youngest captain in 2003, with a wealth of knowledge in the game that only benefits the playgroup alongside head coach Jason Gillespie and assistant Joe Dawes. « Cameron has obviously been a fantastic player throughout his career and his understanding of the game makes him a great addition to our coaching staff, » said Gillespie. « He showed it to the team last year and they really approached him and picked his brain.
