Harambee Stars U20 striker Benson Omala is confident that Kenya will qualify for the U-20 African Nations Cup next year.
Kenya will face traditional rivals Uganda in the Cecafa U20 Championship semi-finals today and Omala is optimistic that they will bring the best together and qualify for the continental championship.
Speaking to Standard Sports, Omala, who scored the winning goal on death in the 2-1 win over Sudan to help Rising Stars qualify for the semi-finals, said they were ready for Uganda. “We expect a win. It is a must for us to win a game and we are ready to do it as a team. We’re all ready and I think the mentality here will win Cecafa and achieve our main goal of automatically qualifying for the U20 African Nations Cup in 2021, ”he said.
The informed Gor Mahia striker has led the Rising Stars good show in Tanzania after beating Ethiopia 3-0 and Sudan 2-1 on the opening day of the tournament.
He said he was in good shape and had a keen eye for the golden boot.
« I feel good because as a striker, when you score goals, you get the impetus to score more goals. « . I don’t expect anything less than to achieve more as the tournament progresses, ”added Omala.
