The new statistics came when the Prime Minister announced Tier 4 restrictions on large parts of London and the South East.

Government data released on Saturday showed that there had been 534 deaths within 28 days of a positive COVID-19 test – making a national total of 67. 075 corresponds.

This is a slight increase from 489 deaths on Friday. However, the number of new cases reported on Saturday was 27. 051, a decrease of about 1. 500 compared to 24 hours previously.
