Qantas frequent flyers can now earn and use points on premium train travel in Australia, including Ghan, Indian Pacific and Great Southern Marking For the first time ever, Classic Reward Seats were offered on-site.

Starting today, members can use points to book Classic Rail Reward spots or to earn 1 point for every $ 1 spent on travel on Rail Expeditions.

Journey Beyond offers extended overnight rail holidays traversing some of Australia’s most picturesque and iconic landscapes such as the Red Center, Blue Mountains and the East Coast. The all-inclusive high-end expeditions include bespoke menus inspired by the locations the trains pass through and the ability for guests to explore the tracks with immersive off-train excursions before heading to their accommodations return on board and enjoy first class hospitality.

Olivia Wirth, CEO of Qantas Loyalty, said at a time when Australians are planning domestic vacations more than ever. The partnership with Journey Beyond Rail Expeditions gives frequent flyers even more options to use their Qantas points.

Bookings are now possible for next year’s rail travel. The Great Southern’s second season is extended by two weeks through February, and the weekly Ghan service is offered twice a week from May through August. Work is currently underway to ensure that the Indian Pacific returns with its weekly voyages from mid-February.
