World News – AU – Gold Coast Baby rushed to hospital after accidentally ingesting a « significant » amount of meth

Authorities say the 12-month-old ingested a’ significant ‘amount of the drug ice in an apartment complex on the Gold Coast.

Acting Detective Inspector Troy Penrose from the Department of Vulnerable People and Domestic Violence told courier mail that the baby was « partially unconscious » and vomited after taking the illegal drug.

« It is (the allegations) deeply worrying to the police, as it would be to any parent. People are legally obliged not to expose their children to harmful environments. Wherever they do and where the police are advised, we will certainly investigate the matter as a priority, « he said.

It was only when the baby got sick that four people, including the mother, allegedly noticed that something was wrong.

The incident has been reported to child protection services and the police have opened an investigation. After a month of investigation, the 20-year-old surrendered to the police.

She has been accused of endangering children’s lives from exposure. The maximum sentence for the crime if convicted is seven years in prison. The mother was given bail. January will appear in court.
