To celebrate The Undoing’s debut, Grant answered questions from fans in a special Q&A, humorously called Hugh and A His new role as oncologist Jonathan Fraser seems a far cry from his traditional portrayal of romantic comedy heroes and awkward Britons in movies like Notting Hill and Four Weddings and a Funeral The actor made a concerted effort to steer his career towards less predictable and darker roles, but fans still wanted to know what came next for his iconic bookseller William Thacker.
The film ends with Thacker finally marrying Julia Roberts’ glamorous movie star Anna Scot and settling in the eponymous district of London to start a family
Grant was asked what happens next in their fabulous fantasy romance He shocked (and delighted some) fans with his outrageous response
The actor said, « I would love to do a sequel to one of my own romantic comedies that shows what happened after those movies ended To really prove the terrible lie that they all were , that it was a happy ending «
Not surprisingly, fans were devastated by the bursting of the romantic comedy bubble, although many others embraced the admittedly realistic idea
One fan joked: « The devastation is to find out that Hugh Grant’s real life looks more like Bridget Jones Hugh Grant than Notting Hill Hugh Grant or Love Actually Hugh Grant »
