What brought her to SAS Australia

Watching Candice Warner fall backwards from a helicopter, walk face first on a cliff and face a former Miss Universe over a car tire, you have to remember she signed up for that

The former Ironwoman is among 17 contestants in the inaugural season of SAS Australia, a Channel Seven reality show that subjects celebrities to a series of physical and psychological tests that mimic the Special Forces recruiting process

Candice, who is the wife of Australian cricketer David Warner, has already faced several major challenges in recent years, from relentless trolling to the fallout from her husband’s ball tampering scandal Whenever the eyes of the country have been on her

« I’m doing this for my family, » she said « I’m doing this to show my kids that it’s not just daddy who’s tough and strong »

Candice Warner (née Falzon) was only 14 when she competed in her first professional Ironman She went on to earn a place in the grueling Nutri-Grain Ironman & Ironwoman Series in 2008

Thanks to her success, Candice has become something of an “it girl” in Sydney; a must-have on social and sports pages

But in 2007, the athlete and professional surf lifesaver was subjected to brutal trolling after media reported she had a drunken encounter with footballer Sonny Bill Williams in a cabin pub toilet

On Monday, viewers will see Candice relive that moment in her life during an interrogation on SAS Australia

« I put myself in a situation where I shouldn’t have and because of that I brought embarrassment (and) shame to my family »

« I try to turn everything in my life into a Some of the things people said or wrote about me hurt, but I use that as a motivation Thank them, » she said later told Daily Telegraph

Candice met cricketer David Warner after contacting him on Twitter while playing at the Ashes in England in 2013 They messaged back and forth, started video chatting, and once back in Australia, started a whirlwind romance

Their first child, Ivy Mae, was born in September 2014 and the parents were married seven months later in the town of Nowra, New South Wales Their second daughter, Indie Rae, arrived in 2016

He and then Australian captain Steve Smith orchestrated a plan that saw rookie Cameron Bancroft secretly scramble the ball with sandpaper during a test match against South Africa in Cape Town Town

Earlier in the tournament, Candice had been shaken by the sight of South African fans tormenting her husband while wearing Sonny Bill Williams masks Then came that second blow

“I felt so happy that day,” Candice later told Australian Women’s Weekly “I was hoping the terrible things were behind us I was starting to feel this first stage of pregnancy – the changes subtle in my body were starting We were overwhelmed, knowing that another little Warner was on the way

« I was getting [his daughters] ready to go to the afternoon shoot and out of the corner of my eye, on the screen, I could see something going on It was my first time knew about the tampering of the ball «

The fallout was intense The trio were banned from the tournament and packed on return flights Candice and David returned to Australia to a horde of waiting media, screaming and showing cameras to their faces

There have been reviews that the couple took their daughters into the fray, with some accusing them of ‘hiding behind’ their children But Candice later said they were told they were would go through a private outing: « I’m not fragile but I was in a bad state I was completely drained when I saw the media »

A week later Candice suffered a miscarriage She endured another with a subsequent pregnancy just three months later

« We had two miscarriages during this time It definitely took its toll on my body It was heartbreaking I thought, ‘What more can I get away from?’ «

It is by thinking of them and her little girls that Candice mobilized for her latest challenge
