Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki paid homage to Pitso Mosimane after the revered mentor led Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly to the Caf Champions League a a few days ago.

Mosimane conquered the continent Friday night with a technical team dominated by his SA compatriots – assistant coach Cavin Johnson, fitness trainer Kabelo Rangoaga and performance analyst Musi Matlaba – and Ntseki said the milestone would do a lot to local coaching Bringing respect to brotherhood.

It was the second Champions League winner medal for Mosimane after leading former club Mamelodi Sundowns to the same title in 2016.

« First, congratulations to coach Pitso, his technical team and all of the South Africans who joined him in Egypt on his track record of winning the league and now winning the Champions League, » said Ntseki.

« I think we are very proud South Africans now that one of us won the Champions League for the second time in two different countries and with two different teams.

« I think it’s a big milestone. It’s a journey that began with so much success years ago with SuperSport United.

“I think sometimes we forget that your success begins when you work towards it.

“I think that Trainer Pitso has equipped himself with the necessary tools, completed coaching courses, gained experience and worked with experienced trainers and has established himself as one of the best in the country and now on the continent, always adore him and wish him good luck. ”

Al Ahly defeated his Cairo rival Zamalek 2-1 on Friday evening at the Cairo International Stadium. Mosimane was able to join the exclusive club of coaches who won the Champions League with two different teams. The other two members of the exclusive club are the Argentine Oscar Fullone and the Egyptian Mahmoud El-Gohary

Ntseki said Mosimane’s triumph would serve as a motivation for local coaches eager to advance their careers in other parts of the continent.

« We are proud to be South Africans and we are proud to be SA coaches on this continent. « . I think it is now up to us to take the flag to the next level and raise the bar in our continental competitions as we still have to qualify for Afcon (African Nations Cup) in 2022 and the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

« I think coach Pitso, coach Cavin Johnson [and] Kabelo Rangoaga made history, and history itself will make other nations and other countries respect SA football. ».

« I think it’s the greatest achievement of our life and as SA coach we are very proud of it.

« It is an achievement that will open doors for us. It’s an achievement that challenges all of us to work very hard. It encourages us all to empower ourselves so that we have the skills to run large football clubs while presenting a high level of tactical knowledge so that our teams can play good football.

« I think that now that coach Pitso has achieved so much outside the borders of South Africa, he can always achieve a lot outside the borders of Africa too. « .

« I see that he will do very well in the future because he has a passion for the game of football and the professionalism that goes with it. ”

Al Ahly, aptly named Team of the Century, struggled to improve on his eight Champions League titles for seven years, losing in the 2017 and 2018 finals.

The Red Devils last won the Champions League in 2013 when they defeated Orlando Pirates. Zamalek and TP Mazembe from the Democratic Republic of the Congo are behind Ahly with five Champions League gongs each.
