World news – AU – Lions support the Nobel backflip on the Nordic training mission

After two weeks of saying he is unlikely to enjoy the prospect, David Noble is actively working with North Melbourne as they search for a great new coach.

After two weeks of saying he is unlikely to enjoy the prospect, David Noble is actively involved with North Melbourne as they search for a senior coach

The football chief of Brisbane Lions has been identified by kangaroos as part of their hunt to replace Rhys Shaw who split from North last month for personal reasons

Noble announced late last month that it was no longer focused on coaching, aiming instead to be the CEO on the right track.

“No, unlikely,” he told AFL Trade Radio when asked if he would receive a call from the kangaroos about their role in training

« I have moved here to expand my skill set from a management perspective and I would like to see my path still moving into the CEO role. This is the direction I’ve clearly taken. Noble said I’d go down this CEO path if I could. »

He has recorded that he has said he has a year to run for his current contract with Brisbane.

But after North contacted him about his interest in the job, Noble decided to think seriously about the idea.

Sources close to the situation said on Thursday that Noble was frank with the Lions about his decision to engage with the Russians and that Brisbane had given Noble its blessing for him to submit a request

It is unclear if Noble has definitely decided he wants to be a coach for the North if he was offered the job but he has had an ongoing dialogue with Roos

Noble, 53, joined the Lions at the end of 2016 after previously heading the football division in Adelaide

Tasmania, Noble – who played two games with Fitzroy in 1991 – was formerly assistant coach at Western Bulldogs and coached Glenelg at SANFL

His son John plays on Collingwood, while his father, also named John, plays an amazing Tasmanian footballer

Magpies assistant Robert Harvey and Richmond assistant Adam Kingsley are among others associated with the Northern job

Ross Lyons, former Fremantle coach and former Gold Coast assistant Dean Solomon, who was shortlisted for the Dockers job that eventually went to Justin Longmuir, disqualified themselves

Former Lions coach Michael Voss has also been disqualified, as Port Adelaide football team captain Chris Davis confirmed to SEN SA on Thursday

“I think right now, Michael has ruled himself out of the process, I’ll be surprised if that changes,” Davis said

Lisa Alexander, the former coach of the Australian netball team, applied for the job but North refused to be interviewed.
