MORNING BRIEFING: Residents of Lakemba have been put on high alert after several positive cases of COVID-19 in the area, as the NSW appeals court rules apartment buildings can no longer impose general prohibitions on pets

A coronavirus pop-up clinic was set up in Lakemba in southwest Sydney after two general practitioners in the area tested positive for COVID -19

The cases are linked to a previously reported case of a patient who visited Lakemba Radiology

Health officials said anyone who visited A2Z’s medical clinic from September 29 to October 10 was considered close contact with GPs and should self-isolate and get tested immediately

Alerts have also been issued for rail links between Wiley Park and Lakemba, and Isra Medical Services in Lakemba

A man had his fingertip cut off in a road rage incident with a cyclist in South West Sydney

The 52-year-old started arguing with the cyclist after nearly hitting him with the door of his car in Campsie on Sunday

The cyclist threatened the man with two large axes and the duo got involved in a scuffle where the man’s fingertip was cut

The New South Wales government is pushing to hold a public inquiry into coercive control which could see new offenses introduced to tackle this form of domestic violence

Coercive control consists of repeated patterns of non-physical behavior which can include psychological, emotional and financial abuse

New South Wales Attorney General and Minister for Violence Prevention Mark Speakman said the government will take action this week to open an investigation

« The appalling rate of domestic violence murders in Australia remains stubbornly constant, and coercive and controlling behavior is a common precursor to intimate partner homicide, » said M Speakman
