Police shot and killed an alleged armed man walking on the Logan Highway, which has closed the eastbound lanes and is expected to cause « extensive » delays for the morning rush hour.
Emergency services were called onto the motorway in Drewvale on the edge of Brisbane’s south side just after 6 a.m. on Thursday.
Police have confirmed officers responded to calls regarding a traffic hazard when they were allegedly confronted by an armed man who was alone and on foot.
A police spokesman said the incident resulted in a « nightmare » in traffic with the area cordoned off for an investigation into the ongoing incident to begin.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed that paramedics were in Drewvale around 6:00 a.m.. 3pm but couldn’t confirm any information about the man’s condition.
