Warning: This is the route to major spoilers for The Mandalorian, Season 2, Episode 5 – stop here if you haven’t seen the latest episode!

There were plenty of big reveals and teasers in Chapter 13 of The Mandalorian – from the live-action debut of Ahsoka Tano to the surprise of Baby Yoda’s real name Grogu and a drop in the name of legendary Grand Admiral Thrawn. If you’re still swaying from all of this, you may have missed something very important: Mando is now in possession of a weapon that can effectively block a lightsaber.

We got our first lead that Beskar has some anti-lightsaber properties when Ahsoka surprised Mando and he blocked her double blades with the gloves of his armor. But later in the episode we saw a weapon that could prove extremely useful.

The villain of this episode, the magistrate, had a Beskar spear that she used to duel with Ahsoka. This spear was so effective that the former Jedi even managed to disarm one of their sabers. Ultimately, Ahsoka prevailed – and handed the Beskar weapon over to Mando.

Now people are pointing out that this could be useful in a possible future battle against the Darksaber-wielding Moff Gideon. Prior to this episode, Mando would probably have needed a Jedi to defeat the Imperial and the old weapon, but with the spear he is prepared for a future battle – provided that the Darksaber is of course also blocked by Beskar.

The Gunslinger and Grogu are now on their way to planet Tython in hopes of contacting other Jedi, meaning that Gideon could potentially catch up with them while they are there. In all the excitement, the tracking device mounted on the razor comb might have crossed your mind – but we know Gideon and his Dark Troopers are on the duo’s trail.

There doesn’t seem to be a better place for a dramatic duel than the possible location of the First Jedi Temple, especially when Baby Yoda calls out to some allies who might arrive to help.

We’ll have to wait until next week to find out what the future holds for Mando and Grogu. In the meantime, check out our The Mandalorian season two release schedule to make sure you don’t miss out on Chapter 14 when you meet Disney Plus.
