The Liverpool U18s performed brilliantly at Melwood, beating Leeds United 5-0 on Saturday afternoon in the U18’s Premier League North.
There were five different goalscorers for the young Reds on the club’s former training ground when they took a 3-0 lead in the first half.
Mateusz Musialowski scored his first goal for the club to open the standings and was added to the scorers’ list by Layton Stewart, Melkamu Frauendorf and substitutes Isaac Mabaya and Oakley Cannonier.
Goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga also made his competitive debut for Liverpool and produced a slew of clever interventions to help score a goal.
Talk to Liverpoolfc. After the game, U18 boss Marc Bridge-Wilkinson said: “I thought we played well. We wanted to come here and win the game like we do every week.
“We wanted to perform and because of our location we wanted to do it right. We wanted to leave Melwood the way we could – by being a really good team from Liverpool.
“Our job, as perhaps the last Liverpool team to play here, was to make sure we won the game and that we did it in a way that was appropriate for the club and the badge. Hopefully we did. ”

Musialowski took ownership of Leeds’ half and did a weaving run before applying a powerful finish that found the top corner.
The home side doubled their lead in the 35th minute when Stewart turned James Norris’s cross into the penalty area after an attack by the left full-back.
In the closing moments of the first half, Stewart became the supplier when he delivered a cut-back that found the timely run of Frauendorf, who scored a goal behind the goalkeeper.
U18 captain Jarell Quansah was unable to return after the break and was replaced by Mabaya, who only needed five minutes to make an impression on the game.
When the corner was half cleared by Dominic Corness of Leeds, Mabaya’s drilled shot was subsequently slightly deflected en route to the lower corner.
Liverpool’s dominance continued and they had plenty of opportunities to make it 5-0. They had finally scored two minutes before the end of the game when Stewart’s cross from left escaped Leeds’ defensive line and Cannonier scored a hit into the net.
