World News – AU – More to come from ‘Forgotten Man’ Crichton with Blues, Roosters

Angus Crichton has quietly returned to the NSW Origin squad and has club and state level cases pending

Its removal after Origin I last year didn’t generate the same number of titles as dropped duo Latrell Mitchell and Cody Walker, but Crichton, like Walker, worked hard to regain their place at the sides of Brad Fittler

Crichton has been excellent for much of this year for the Roosters and is desperate to win a contract extension beyond next season

Wendell Sailor told Triple M on Saturday that Rugby Australia should make serious play to bring the schoolboy rugby star back to his code

But Crichton said there was a lot more for him to do at the Roosters – and the Blues

“I am delighted to be back in this arena and playing with guys of this caliber and coaches of this caliber,” said Crichton “It’s nothing less than an honor

« I had lost my confidence before Origin I [last year] I knew I wasn’t playing my best football from the start I had just had shoulder surgery, there was the change club [Souths to Easts], the change of scenery, trying to fit into a squad and add my part to an already great team in the Roosters was difficult

« I learned a lot about myself and the player I wanted to be. I’m lucky our captain Boyd Cordner is in my place and is a great example of what a back row rower should be Roosters and what a representative rear rower should be

Crichton transferred to center for the World Club Challenge and spent time at the lock and even a brief stint at the front row this year

It was not lost on Fittler that Crichton had shown his versatility and he was one of the Roosters’ best in the last few weeks before they pulled out of the title race Many of his brutal defensive shots featured on the highlights reel

Crichton, 24, said he felt like he was getting the best of himself, ‘but I know there is more to improve’

Weighing in healthy 105kg, Crichton will do a lot of damage on the bench against Queensland on Wednesday night as a midfielder or on a brim

Turning to 2022 and beyond, Crichton, who was the target of the Waratahs before his last contract, said: « I love the Roosters and I don’t want to leave I love the club, the coaches, the style we play, the region, all my friends go to the club My plan is to hang out There’s a lot more I want to do and want to prove  »

The Roosters look set to sign another schoolboy rugby prodigy this week, Joseph Suaalii Crichton, who attended Scots College, has said the 17-year-old will be in good hands at the Chooks
