Will Davison, two-time Bathurst 1000 winner, and returning youngster Anton De Pasquale will take the seats vacated by the pair of Kiwis McLaughlin and Fabian Coulthard

Coulthard was fired a day after McLaughlin announced his departure for IndyCar, although the two were offered co-pilot sports for the 2021 enduro campaign

Davison is no stranger to Dick Johnson Racing, the refuge of the Ford team for two years in the mid-2000s

De Pasquale is only three years into his career, having been brought out of virtual obscurity by Erebus Motorsport in 2018 DJR general manager Ryan Story says the enthusiasm within the team is high after the announcement of such a strong pair of drivers

« They are both fast, they both have runs on the board, and they will do very well for Dick Johnson Racing and the Shell V-Power Racing Team »

« He really kicked off his full-time Supercar career here and drove for us from 2006 to 2008, so it’s kind of like a homecoming, and we’re happy he’s joining the fold. »

« In Anton’s case, he is one of the next generation up-and-coming drivers in the sport, and he has shown his immense talent on the track and his professionalism off the track. He’s a driver «

It’s a remarkable turn of fortune for Davison, who just four months ago was out of a job after the COVID-19 pandemic forced his Milwaukee Racing to pull back

A second-place finish alongside Cam Waters in Bathurst propelled Davison into the limelight, and McLaughlin’s departure set the wheels in motion for his DJR comeback

« I am delighted to join the team that won the championship, and after a solid weekend in Bathurst, I feel well placed to have my best season yet, » he told Supercarscom

« I am extremely motivated to return to where my Supercar career began and look forward to working closely with Anton [De Pasquale]

« I always feel like I have a lot of things I want to accomplish in sport and obviously joining this team, which has been so rich in history and has achieved so much success over the past three years, is a huge opportunity

Although McLaughlin has confirmed he will be back at the Bathurst show in 2021, his comrade Kiwi has yet to accept DJR’s co-pilot offer

There are places available for the 39-year-old, including at Kelly Racing where he could team up with New Zealander Andre Heimgartner
