World News – AU – NBA Says To Enforce COVID Compliance For Teams

The NBA puts a significant strain on team officials to monitor and monitor discipline for breaches of the COVID-19 protocol between players and players, the league told teams on Thursday in a memo received from ESPN.

The memo comes on a day when four Chicago Bulls players – Lauri Markkanen, Ryan Arcidiacono, Tomas Satoransky and Chandler Hutchison – were disfellowshipped for the league’s health and safety protocols against the Washington Wizards.

According to the guidelines of the collective agreement, the league office is still authorized to override team decisions on player penalties, according to the memo.

The league office continues to oversee primary responsibility for monitoring and investigating in-game violations – such as coaches or inactive players failing to wear masks – and what it considers to be exceptional circumstances, such as « outrageous » or « reasonable » organizational Errors that lead to the spread of COVID-19, game delays, postponements or repeated apparent violations, the memo says.

The NBA reminded teams that there are a number of ways they can become aware of potential violations, including reporting by team or league staff, media and social media reporting, reviewing game broadcasts, and calling the health and safety hotline set up by the league.

The NBA advised teams that in imposing penalties they must follow normal disciplinary procedures, including « Establishing the facts, providing an opportunity to be heard by the person who allegedly violated the protocols, and applying principles of fairness, proportionality and progressiveness in determining discipline. «
