The naysayers of The Last of Us Part II will be delighted that Neil Druckmann continues to write video games as Naughty Dogs and direct new co-president.
Earlier this year, with the backlash in The Last of Us II story, some people were hoping that developer would oust Naughty Dog. Christmas came just before that weekend when President Evan Wells announced a series of promotions within the studio, including the new role of Druckmann. I can’t count on my fingers how many people I’ve come across who have hoped the commercials mean he isn’t involved in the writing and running of video games. Perhaps Druckmann himself was inundated with these comments for following the following tweets:

Oh . . . and I’ll still be directing and writing as I help guide the next wave of creators.
Rest assured, Druckmann is going nowhere and The Last of Us II has been successful enough for Sony. Jim Ryan, CEO of SIE, recently confirmed this in an interview in which he also stressed the importance of creative freedom and allowed developers to gain different experiences.
The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima are currently leaders in the Player’s Voice category of The Game Awards.
