While hesitant to return to the popular franchise, Neve Campbell reveals that it was a personal letter that made her change her mind about the upcoming Scream 5 movie
Campbell, 47, confirmed last month that she was returning, making it the first in the franchise not to have creator and director Wes Craven
It was Wes’ death that initially made Campbell hesitate to return, which she revealed to Variety for their House of Horror special where she appeared virtually with Jamie Lee Curtis

It was the commitment of new directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett to honoring Wes’s legacy that convinced Campbell
« They actually wrote me a letter and they said they were basically directors because of these movies, » Campbell said « They’re directors because of Wes Craven and they’re really, really excited to be a part of these movies and what an honor it is to make them, and that they really want to do Wes justice and honor his legacy.
“It meant a lot This letter meant a lot to me,” she continued “Then I went to watch one of their movies and it’s brilliant and in tone So I thought, ‘You know what , I can do that « I think this could be a lot of fun and a good idea These are people doing it for the love of these movies So that meant something »
“I’m leaving soon (and) can’t wait to get back to work,” Campbell told Entertainment Tonight “This will be the first time since March and I’m sure we’re all about to go back to work, so i am enthusiastic about it
“I am delighted (to) take a step back in Sidney’s place and see Courteney and David,” she continued “These films mean so much to me in my life and career and they are always fun to do, so that should be fun! »
