CSIRO, Australia’s National Science Agency, has developed a free, personalized tool to help Australians better understand their eating habits in 2021, with the aim of tackling dips in motivation in the New Year and beyond.

Based on psychology and behavioral science, the new Start Strong Diet quiz assesses participants’ values ​​and willingness to change, and offers a motivational card to guide those looking to improve their overall health and wellbeing in 2021.

The quiz evaluates what motivates individuals to make healthy lifestyle changes, including whether they are more motivated to change their diet, improve their exercise, or monitor their measurements, and gives practical tips on which to go Lifestyle choices based on passions and aspirations will help you personalize their weight loss plan.

An analysis of over 11. 000 of the newest members of the CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet found that most people with high levels of motivation and commitment to weight loss participate in the program.

Among the members, 93 percent were motivated to lose weight to feel good and improve their quality of life. Health as a driver was just under a second, with 89 percent of people being motivated by it.

Most of the people classified as obese were motivated to lose weight for health reasons (92 percent). .

The CSIRO behavioral scientist Dr. Emily Brindal said understanding people’s reasons for starting a formal weight loss program is critical to helping them stay engaged once New Year’s resolutions wear off.

« New Year, New You » resolutions can often be spontaneous, and we all know that despite the best of intentions, motivation often drops when challenges arise, « said Dr. Brindal.
