20 years following her performance at the opening ceremony, see what Nikki Webster looks like now.

Twenty years on from her iconic debut in the Sydney Olympics opening ceremony and Nikki Webster looks all grown up.

The 33-year-old Australian icon appeared on Nine’s Today show to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of the games and has taken to Instagram to reflect on her teenage fame.

“There was no written book on how to do it right. We just kind of went with it. Took the experience for what it was and that,” she explained.

“I got to be immersed with so many different people from around the world, I got to make music and clothing ranges and do so much,” she added.

However, in a recent interview with, Webster revealed all the of the drama that went down BTS on the opening ceremony night.

During rehearsals in the week leading up to the Sydney 2000 Olympics Opening Ceremony, Nikki Webster didn’t know if she was going to be able to fly across Stadium Australia or not.

“The only thing I was nervous about was being able to fly, because that was a major part of it,” she said.

“I think in two of the dress rehearsals the week before it was so windy that I couldn’t fly.

“Then on the day I remember the wind picked up in the afternoon and I thought it wasn’t going to happen, but thankfully it did.”

For five minutes Webster was strapped into a harness as she flew across Stadium Australia in her little pink dress, before landing and later on going on to sing Under The Southern Skies.

In 2001 Webster had released the song Strawberry Kisses, topping the charts. In 2005, she had her own clothing range sold at Kmart.

To celebrate the anniversary of the Olympics, Webster got out the pink floral dress she wore on stage.

She joked that while she was unable to fit into the costume anymore, her daughter Skylah could.

Last year, Webster appeared on Channel 10’s The Masked Singer, unveiled as the third celebrity on the show, dressed as the Alien.

“I was flattered that people still thought I was distinct and could remember me,” Nikki told TV WEEK.

“For me, that was better than staying under wraps or being incognito. People still remember what I sound like and that’s awesome.”

While she was full of confidence as a 13-year-old singing in front of the world, she was a bundle of nerves for her wedding day!

“Put me in front of 1000 people to perform, and I’m fine. Make me say vows and a speech and I’m a wreck,” Nikki tells Woman’s Day.

“I’m also the clumsiest girl ever. I said to Dad, ‘You better hold me up in case I trip over my dress!’”

The pair met on a blind date on Australia Day in 2010 and Matt popped the question in Fiji last January.
