Josh Dunkley remains in the Western Bulldogs after Essendon failed to agree on trade
Western Bulldogs midfielder Josh Dunkley will return to the club in 2021 after last-minute talks faltered to send the ball winner to Essendon on Thursday night.
Dunkley asked to move to the bombers early in the trade period and negotiations extended to the last minutes such as Thursday night 7, deadline approaching 30pm AEDT
The Bulldogs held fast to their demands for a player they highly appreciate – thought to be two options from the first round – and proved to be a price the bombers were not willing to pay
Understandably, Dunkley’s recent bombers show was a « no » 7 selection and a future second round selection
« We appreciate him very much, » Sam Power, Bulldogs listing manager, told Trade Radio. « He’s a great player, really a team captain of the future. »
« We had a really clear asking price that we didn’t deviate from, otherwise we’d be saying constantly we’d keep it.
“He knows how much we rate him We are sure he can be a long-term player for us. «
Dunkley wasn’t the only player remaining at his home club, with no follow-up to Jackson Hatley’s request to join Adelaide
Justin Reed, General Manager of Ravens Department, said Hately will join the Ravens by picking Number 1 in the NAB AFL pre-season draft
“Jackson wants to be in the crows in 2021 and since we have the first pick in the pre-season draft, we’ll be able to make that happen,” Reed said.
