World News – AU – Officeworks phone charger has been recalled nationwide over fears it could catch fire

A wireless charger sold online and in stores domestically has been recalled because of a possible fire hazard.

The Keji Wireless Charging Pad sold at Officeworks was recalled due to a defect that could overheat the device while charging, creating the risk of fire, burns, personal injury, or property damage.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission published the recall on Monday because it fears that the defect could cause « fire, serious injury or death ». .

The affected articles are marked with the model number KW05BK, the barcode number 9332902021076 and the SKU COKW05BK.

Units sold under product code COKW05BKR and barcode 9332902024404 as of January 2021 are not affected.

Consumers are advised to stop using the charger immediately and return the product to Officeworks for a full refund.
