shortly after 9. On Sunday the 27th. December, at 30:00 in the morning, patrols and medics were called on the Augusta Highway about two miles south of Red Hill after a road train and a Mitsubishi SUV crashed. Unfortunately, the driver of the SUV, a 30-year-old woman from Seaton, died on the scene.
Shortly before the crash, patrols and CFS crews were called to the same location on the Augusta Highway after reports of a bushfire in a paddock. CFS was able to quickly put out the fire, which burned a small area of the undergrowth with no property damage.
The woman’s death is 95. Lives lost on the streets of our state this year compared to 113 in the same period last year.
The Augusta Highway remains closed as traffic is diverted north on Ingham Gap Road and south on Clements Road.
Major crash investigators stay on the scene and investigations into the cause of the crash continue.
The investigation into the cause of the fire has not yet been completed. However, it is not currently believed to be suspicious.
The truck driver, a 67-year-old man from Davoren Park, was not injured but was taken to hospital for a medical examination.
