residents of Nannup and Maranup have been told to leave their homes or prepare to actively defend their homes as a wildfire bushfire destroys homes and lives in the area.
A watch and action alarm has been raised in the area bounded by Brockman Highway to the south, Tuia Road to the west, Huitson Road to the north, and Maranup Ford Road to the east in Counties Nannup and Bridgetown issued -Greenbushes.
About 50 firefighters are on the scene and fight the fire, which first started in the early morning hours of December 31. December was reported and raged over more than 80 hectares of land.
Maranup Ford Road will remain closed between Maranup Ford Caravan Park and Brockman Highway, while Brockman Highway will be blocked at the intersection of Mokerdillup Road and Brockman Highway Gold Gully Road.
