Perth Act Tame Impala is celebrated on the global stage after earning two Grammy nominations.
Kevin Parker – the musical genius behind Act Tame Impala – won the Grammy Awards 2021, which takes place on Jan.. January, made a name for themselves in both the best alternative music album and the best rock songs category.
The Admission Academy released its annual list of awards this morning. Tame Impala was recognized for the album The Slow Rush and competed against Phoebe Bridgers, Brittany Howard, Fiona Apple and Beck for the gong.
Parker also made his second appearance in the rock category as the songwriter behind Lost In Yesterday, which was nominated for Best Rock Song.
The 2021 list brings Tame Impala’s Grammy nomination list to four after taking a spot in the nomination package for Best Alternative Music Album in 2014 and 2016.
Tame Impala’s psychedelic styles began in Perth in 2007 and have since won a number of high profile awards – including eight ARIAs and one British.
The Slow Rush will also be recognized at the ARIA Awards 2020 today. Parker awaits a result of his nominations for Album of the Year, Best Group, and Best Rock Album, while his single Lost In Yesterday will release a Best Pop nomination.
Is It True received a nod for Best Video, and Parker himself was nominated individually for Engineer of the Year and Producer of the Year at the Australian Music Awards.
Australian artist Flume also received a Grammy nomination for the 2021 awards ceremony with his recording The Difference.
