Well known musician of the Torres Strait Islander, Henry Seaman Dan, is honored by family and friends after his death at the age of 91 years.
His youngest daughter confirmed her father’s death at the age of 91 and wrote on Facebook that she was « very sad about the news ». .
The musician released his first album at the age of 70 after decades of performing live.
His music combined the genres of blues, hula and jazz with the traditional music of the Torres Strait Islander culture.
He collected awards well into his eighties and won two ARIA Awards for best world music album and a Red Ocher Award for his contribution to indigenous music.
