World News – AU – Two men drown on Teewah Beach on the Sunshine Coast

. . Queensland Police said emergency services were called to Teewah Beach when a group of swimmers encountered trouble on the north coast of Noosa.

. .

Two men in their thirties drowned and a nine-year-old boy was hospitalized on a tragic afternoon in Teewah Beach, on the Sunshine Coast.

Queensland police said in a statement Saturday, « Ambulance services were called to Teewah Beach, Noosa North Shore at around 2am. 3 p.m. in response to a drowning incident in which two men died in their mid-30s.

« A 9 year old child was treated on site and taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in stable condition.

Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) said the tragedy stemmed from a number of serious incidents on the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.

« Our thoughts go with the families of the two men today, » said Aaron Purchase, Regional Operations Manager, SLSQ Sunshine Coast.

The incident was « a tragic reminder to only ever swim between the red and yellow flags so lifeguards and lifeguards are available if you get in trouble, » he said.

« If you need to swim in a secluded location, stay near the beach and stay waist-deep. However, the safest place to swim is in a controlled location between the red and yellow flags. «

The previous Saturday, a woman was rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital following an incident in Coolum Beach.
