WA is offering a $ 1 million reward for information about the weekend murder of a former president of the Bikie gang
An underground worker has died following an incident at Westgold Resources Limited’s Big Bell mine, northwest of Cue in western midwest Australia.
The worker is believed to have been flown to Perth with serious injuries but died in the hospital.
The company is on a trading freeze and released a statement to ASX this morning that a full investigation into the incident is ongoing.
In a statement, Andrew Chaplyn of the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety said inspectors were on their way to Big Bell.
Additional mining and processing activities will continue at Cue Gold Operations, as well as the company’s Meekatharra and Fortnum.
Westgold is the sixth largest gold producer in Australia and is concentrated in the Central Murchison region.
Big Bell, part of the company’s cue business, opened earlier this year after sitting idle for nearly two decades.
