Labor and Greens have signed power-sharing agreement for next ACT Legislative Assembly
Parties say parliamentary and government agreement will focus on sustainable economic development, close the gap for First Nations people, provide more affordable housing and a rapid transition to net zero emissions
Chief Minister Andrew Barr and ACT Greens leader Shane Rattenbury have held talks in the past two weeks since the October 17 election
M Barr said the deal will be different from previous years, which was evident in the title as this time around it will be a parliamentary and government deal
He said there had been « good, solid discussions » and that there had also been compromise on both sides. Barr said the deal will include more affordable housing in the territory, a climate strategy and more money for homelessness
« The parliamentary and government agreement is a positive reflection of the common values of both parties and describes the progressive platform that we will be proposing at the 10th Legislative Assembly of ACT, » said Mr. Barr
« During the previous two terms, ACT Labor and ACT Greens have demonstrated their ability to work together to ensure stable government There is clear support in the community for this model, and both parties remain committed »
