The final final of the Australian Open 2021 will reach its climax tomorrow evening when Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev fight from head to toe for the men’s individual championship in the Rod Laver Arena.

Djokovic is standing in a corner who has ruled as King of Melbourne Park since his first major title as a 20-year-old in 2008 when he defeated the unannounced Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the championship game.

This meant he and any remaining players who were still in the draw, had to play their next games in front of empty stands, in all too familiar scenes after the sporting events during the COVID-19 pandemic were still deserted, were declared as such in March last year.
He then needed four Sentences to defeat Milos Raonic in a rematch of last year’s quarterfinal duel before he was eliminated in the quarterfinals after a set against German sixth Alexander Zverev.
With the crowd back, Djokovic’s form was also back when he reached the semifinals against the Russian qualifier Aslan Karatsev, who became the first man in the history of the Open Era to reach the semifinals of his Grand, just won his second match in a row Slam-Deb üt.
And while the 33-year-old should start this Sunday evening as a favorite to win his ninth Australian Open title, he will face an opponent who is rising and is emerging as one of the potential successors of the so-called Big Three .
