CHATTOGRAM: Bangladesh completely defeated the West Indies with a 120-run win on Monday in the third and final One-Day Cricket International.

Skipper Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan , Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah all met for half a century to help Bangladesh after 297-6 after West Indian Captain Jason Mohammed won the litter and decided to roll first.

However, the West Indies were down for 177 in 44, 2 overs, with the Bangladesh bowlers denying them any meaningful partnership.

« The hunger the boys showed when they returned to international cricket after so long was palpable, » said Tamim.

« But we wanted a hundred of our top 5, and today was an opportunity. We couldn’t get that. »

Tamim scored 64 of 80 balls at the top of the order to establish the innings while Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah the Innings went up and down towards the end.

Bangladesh lost Liton Das without scoring in the first game before Nazmul Hossain was captured by Kyle Mayers for 20 years, trailing Bangladesh in ninth place 38-2. A 93-run stand on the third wicket between Tamim and Shakib stabilized the innings.

The fast bowler Alzarri Joseph from West India broke the partnership and sacked Tamim. Then Shakib was bowled by Raymon Reifer.

Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim shared 72 of 58 balls for the fifth wicket to maintain the hit rate.

Fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from Bangladesh made a smooth start to a tough chase in West Indies.

He broke through with Kjorn Ottley’s wicket, before he removed Sunil Ambris (13) for the third time in a row in the series.

Off-spinners Mehidy Hasan and Saifuddin then broke through the middle order and reduced the viewers to 93-5.

Rovman Powell countered and hit 47 of 49 balls with two fours and two sixes to become the team’s top scorer. Saifuddin returned at 3-51 while fast bowlers Mustafizur Rahman and Hasan claimed two wickets each.

Bangladesh won the first two games by six wickets and seven wickets, respectively. The two teams will play a test series with two games from February 3rd.
