World news – Bryce Harper takes on Heckler in a nerve-wracking, viral video

Instead of not worrying for the rest of his days, as the « Lion King » recommends, Harper let himself be irritated by a fan on Friday when he and the Phillies were standing in the visitor dugout in Atlanta.

Twitter user @ LeGates23 posted a video on Friday yelling, « Bryce, you will never be as good as Acuna. As hard as you try, you will never be as good as him. »

With the exception of @ LeGates23, whose real name is unknown, the pronunciation was butchered by Ronald Acuña Jr., the Braves star outfielder.

The video shows Harper turning around to correct the pronunciation while lip readers pointed out that he replied, « It’s ah-CUHN-ya, » while waving his hand to show where the Tilde belongs.

Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto stood next to Harper and smiled at the strange interaction that was missing in the stadiums everywhere when the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions were tightest.

@ LeGates23 seems to be enjoying the attention and the game. Here is a selection of his tweets over the past 12 hours:

« Lol y’all mad at me for pronouncing the wrong name, but still a professional gamer focused on a trolling fan rather than the game that he lost … YALL FOLKS FUNNY & THANK YOU FOR BLOWING THE VIDEO !!! «

» I was NEVER good at Spanish class …. The teacher always said to me « mas or menos » after I answered my questions. Well, come on and roll the dice, « I love @ ronaldacunajr24. »

For athletes, heckling hecklers is usually not a good idea, but let’s call this a tie. We thank Harper for the creative comeback because the fans should know how to pronounce the names of the players on their favorite team, but Harper was 0-2. Perhaps the fan deflected the bat just enough to make the Braves 8-1 -To help win.
